If you think there’s more, there probably is…

What a revelation!? If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably allowed yourself at times to entertain the notion that there is more possibility for you….even if you don’t know right now how to access it.  More roles, more revenue, more market share, more customers, more fun, more joy, more opportunity…

It’s a sense, a knowing.

But that isn’t enough to realize it, is it?  Because, if it were, we’d all be accessing that greater potential, but we’re not.  It can be like looking through a glass wall – you can see it but can’t reach it…yet.

Here’s the gift within that though: you now know what you don’t know and from there, you can set about accessing the resources to help you to do just that.

People

We are our own limits.  We set them.  We can reset them but it’s important to recognize when we begin to tap out.  It’s our signal to stretch those limits for ourselves again, and to do that, we need a shift in our thinking first.  Doing this alone isn’t impossible but it’s tough because we have blindspots.  Working with a coach to help you to expand your limits by facilitating your growth.

Find people who challenge your thinking, can already envision the possibility as reality for you and can lead you on a pathway of co creating your new reality.  This person will keep you on track, accountable and is just as committed to your growth as you are – they’ll match your energy.  Seek people who model excellence in what it is you’re seeking.

Process

I spoke last week about building a daily practice that sets you up to have your best possible day by finding rituals that fill your body, mind and spirit with the nourishment you need to fuel you to have the day you want to have.  Deepening our levels of resourcefulness becomes important, just like having a solid bank account – when we need to make withdrawals, we must be confident that replenishment is a certainty.  Because we will need to drawn down in times of challenge, of difficulty, of stress and of pressure.  IF there isn’t much in reserve, we run into problems; some of them serious.

So what I mean by process is by staying in process, rather than having our sights just on results.   Yes we must set our sail in the direction of our goals, but we won’t get there unless we focus on the “how”.  When we remain in process, indeed, when we fall in love with process, the results actually simply materialize.  But the right process matters.

Practice

Working on your practice, on your execution in the pursuit of your desired outcome or new level of reality is something we need people and process for.  With feedback, input into our approaches, and suggestions around better ways of working we’re able to iterate as we go and achieve faster incremental improvement.  Powerful impact.

We alone must do it, but we can’t do it alone…at least not as well.

So, what will you do differently this year?  Growth is a decision and life has a way of giving you opportunities to grow on a daily basis (if you’re paying attention).  Don’t wait for pain to be the catalyst – seek it out and find what’s possible.

“Our deepest fear is not that we’re inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkens that most frightens us”

…A quote which has been attributed to Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Marianne Williamson.  Maybe that’s because it’s a truth.

Be the light that others run to

My cousin said this in our weekly Zoom chat.  She was referring to a friend who was that for her.    When we’re in the midst of darkness, we need direction.  We need a light to run to, don’t we?   Light of the soul, of the spirit.   Are we opening...

Support one another

It’s been tough enough over the last 20 months: we don’t need to make others bad and wrong in order to move forward.  It’s low level, distracting and unhelpful.   Instead, let’s see how we can unify behind one another to lift each other’s energy, emotion and...

The state of sales leadership

We’re witnessing and living through a time we’ve not experienced before.    A phase of constant uncertainty about the future – even with “re-opening pathways out of lockdown”.  In Victoria, we were told our 4 month lockdown in 2020 was to end all lockdowns...only...

Are you someone who just breathes in?

When I first heard someone say this, I loved it because it says it all!    Are you someone who simply sucks the air in, or are you someone who contributes? I’ve written a lot lately about the obvious difficulties we’re experiencing, selling remotely in a market...

I’m not a salesperson – why this isn’t helping

It’s getting tired actually.    I mean, how deluded are we when we’re responsible for driving any of the following and not join the dots to selling: Memberships Clients Revenue Sales Donations Corporate partners Retention Services Subscriptions Participants...

Is it time to readjust your sales force?

With changes to markets, and so much disruption going on, it is inevitable that companies are looking to the levers they can utilise to maximise revenue, and reduce costs so they can respond well now and place themselves in a stronger position going forward.  ...

The antidote to uncertainty

It’s everywhere…and for good reason.  Uncertainty.  What will the future be like?  How will it impact our business/our team/our customers/me?  What do I need to do to be ready for it?  What do I need to do today? When we don’t have certainty we create it for...

Sales Teams Need Strong Leaders

In workplaces, schools, businesses, politics, communities we look to leaders for strength, truth, hope and a clear path forward.    This couldn’t be more important for businesses everywhere than it is right now.  The right leadership will rally teams together in...

Getting Back Up

How many times can a person be struck down before they just can’t bring themselves to get back up?  We each have a breaking point.    There are superhumans who have a well of inner resourcefulness they draw upon that keeps them internally strong when all about...

Truth

We know when we hear it.  We sure know when we don’t.  Conveying it without brutality however, is a skill worth cultivating. It’s not acceptable to simply vomit truth bombs on others without any regard for that person’s feelings, experiences or context, and...
