If you think there’s more, there probably is…
What a revelation!? If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably allowed yourself at times to entertain the notion that there is more possibility for you….even if you don’t know right now how to access it. More roles, more revenue, more market share, more customers, more fun, more joy, more opportunity…
It’s a sense, a knowing.
But that isn’t enough to realize it, is it? Because, if it were, we’d all be accessing that greater potential, but we’re not. It can be like looking through a glass wall – you can see it but can’t reach it…yet.
Here’s the gift within that though: you now know what you don’t know and from there, you can set about accessing the resources to help you to do just that.
We are our own limits. We set them. We can reset them but it’s important to recognize when we begin to tap out. It’s our signal to stretch those limits for ourselves again, and to do that, we need a shift in our thinking first. Doing this alone isn’t impossible but it’s tough because we have blindspots. Working with a coach to help you to expand your limits by facilitating your growth.
Find people who challenge your thinking, can already envision the possibility as reality for you and can lead you on a pathway of co creating your new reality. This person will keep you on track, accountable and is just as committed to your growth as you are – they’ll match your energy. Seek people who model excellence in what it is you’re seeking.
I spoke last week about building a daily practice that sets you up to have your best possible day by finding rituals that fill your body, mind and spirit with the nourishment you need to fuel you to have the day you want to have. Deepening our levels of resourcefulness becomes important, just like having a solid bank account – when we need to make withdrawals, we must be confident that replenishment is a certainty. Because we will need to drawn down in times of challenge, of difficulty, of stress and of pressure. IF there isn’t much in reserve, we run into problems; some of them serious.
So what I mean by process is by staying in process, rather than having our sights just on results. Yes we must set our sail in the direction of our goals, but we won’t get there unless we focus on the “how”. When we remain in process, indeed, when we fall in love with process, the results actually simply materialize. But the right process matters.
Working on your practice, on your execution in the pursuit of your desired outcome or new level of reality is something we need people and process for. With feedback, input into our approaches, and suggestions around better ways of working we’re able to iterate as we go and achieve faster incremental improvement. Powerful impact.
We alone must do it, but we can’t do it alone…at least not as well.
So, what will you do differently this year? Growth is a decision and life has a way of giving you opportunities to grow on a daily basis (if you’re paying attention). Don’t wait for pain to be the catalyst – seek it out and find what’s possible.
“Our deepest fear is not that we’re inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkens that most frightens us”
…A quote which has been attributed to Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Marianne Williamson. Maybe that’s because it’s a truth.
